TAIPEI WITH LOVE

After hours and hours of shopping and sipping my way through a string of new bars in Taipei, I must also add that the restaurants in this city are equally amazing!!! Time for me to capture the spirit and the city’s infectious vibe in two photo shoots in and around my favourite district of Zhongxiao Dunhua. While neighboring Zhongxiao Fuxing (忠孝復興) may be all about the lights and grand shopping malls, Dunhua Shopping Area  (忠孝敦化商圈) stands out for its more selective fashion boutique culture. Whether your interests revolve around chic design, rustic cafes, or stylish side streets: there's always something for everyone to discover. Big brand names are not represented, but that's the point. Dunhua shopping is all about  the local, independent shops that present new fashion trends as well as setting them. It's no wonder that the Taiwanese are so well respected in East Asia for their sense of fashion.

Strolling through these varied and vibrant tiny streets is the perfect introduction to the diverse styles and influences of Taiwan's unquenchable thirst for the next new clothing trend. In one sense, Zhongxiao Dunhua is kind of like an international fashion show for the public. Here you'll find classy continental Europeans, street-smart urban Americans, mix-and-match Japanese ecclectic cool, suave and sexy Korean K-pop, and the conservatively cute Taiwanese. For my first look, inspired by the city, a smart and sporty look… an amazing pair of trousers found in a lovely shop in Dunhua named “Purr.

For the sake of variety, it's not all about clothing here. Stores specializing in pop art and coffee table books can be found behind every inviting doorway, whilst elegant afternoon tea shops and cafes allow you to “just get away from it all” for one or two hours. My favourite establishment so far is WOO TAIPEI : a very colonial looking bar that time forgot !!! You feel miles amost years away from the stressful and crowded streets of the city. A perfect place to relax and have a strawberry Daquiri.

Keep intouch for my second look in Taipei!
