WINTER KNITS

Photography by Philippe Girard (www.philippe-girard.ch)

Winter has well and truly drifted in. With the first heavy snowfall of the year I can debut my favourite new winter knits. In Switzerland keeping cozy is an absolute necessity as the temperatures slide into the minuses! Knitwear is definitely the staple of our winter uniforms, whether it be oversize cardigans, textured tone on tone knits or simply a classic chic neutral roll neck. For men, as I always say, keep it simple and elegant. No need to take out a second mortgage to buy the latest designer knits, just select two or three key pieces for your winter wardrobe and just mix and match. For this article, I am wearing a grey cropped pair of trousers combined with two different knitwear looks. The first is laid back retro chic: combine a fake fur with Dad's vintage leather jacket (complete with removable arms)! To be honest, Dad taught me a lot about sartorial style: the family photo album still testifies that he was an 80’s follower of fashion himself. Like father like son! The second look is more classic, the underplayed detailing allows the dark red color block to make a bold stylish statement. Don’t forget to spice it up with color during winter to make it fun!

In this article, I also wanted to share with you a little bit of Switzerland…Shot on the steps of the famous Pisoni staircase leading up to the Cathedral of St. Ursus in Solothurn, the location gave me a calm serenity like I've not experienced for a long time: not a sound to be heard due to the muffled photo shoot caused by the freshly fallen snowflakes! Sometimes I even surprise myself by stumbling across so many amazing places while scouting for shooting locations. Switzerland is full of architectural surprises. Don't wait any longer, go Swiss... come visit us sometime soon!
